It takes vision and commitment for things to happen and Greg Bockheim possesses both. I met Greg at a zoo conference just outside of Bangkok last October. I shared the San Diego Zoo Kids channel with him and the amazingly positive effect it has on children, and he did not hesitate to share that he would contact his local children's hospital, Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, and ask them to participate. He followed up right after his return to Norfolk with the introduction and made it happen. After spending a day with the kids at the hospital on June 26, 2019, and seeing how it comforts them, I am so grateful to Greg. I am also appreciative he opened up his zoo for us to film stories for the Kids channel.

I have worked with Kamil Čák over the last few months to bring the San Diego Zoo Kids channel to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. Kamil was given this assignment, and when one person is given the responsibility of installing the channel at the hospital, sometimes it can take more than 3 years to make it happen: but not Kamil! Kamil was involved in every single aspect of the channel installation and launch event to celebrate its debut in Norfolk. And when it was determined that we wanted to have the event happen this summer, he put the team together and it happened. Filming today, June 26, 2019, at the hospital is a moment I will never forget. I am deeply grateful for everything Kamil did to bring the channel to the children and their families at the hospital.

San Diego Zoo received this coin from the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, New Jersey on May 17, 2019 during the launch of San Diego Zoo Kids channel at the Goryeb Children's Hospital. By bringing a sloth, penguin, and other amazing animals, Turtle Back Zoo brought tremendous joy so many ill children that day. They also spent numerous hours helping us film four new stories for the channel. They are the ultimate community partner. Today, May 31, I pass this coin on Tim Morrow, CEO of San Antonio Zoo, who helped us bring the San Diego Zoo Kids channel to Children's Hospital of San Antonio. It is wonderful to know that the channel will bring these children hope, happiness, and healing. Debra Erickson
