Coin Stories

My friend printed my homework for me and brought it to class because I wasn't able to print it on time. We had to hand the homework in today, and I was able to turn it in on time!

I was having trouble completing my excel homework, and my friends from class joined me in the computer lab to help me finish the assignment!

This butterfly coin is starting at John F. Kennedy School in Raritan, NJ as part of a school wide kindness project. I am sending this coin to my friend Emma Kate. Although she is only a fifth grader, she is an awesome little girl who I know will spread the kindness forward. In all the time, I spent with Emma Kate over the years, one of my favorite things to do with her is bake. I have sent Emma Kate a cook book in hopes she will share her delicious treats and pay it forward. I have no doubt Emma Kate will find something amazing to do with this coin. My students cant wait to watch the adventures this coin takes.

This coin was given to my 9 year old daughter from her Nana because she takes such good care of her 91 year old grandma that lives with us. ❤

This coin is beginning its journey today in New Jersey on November 6, 2019 and will be on its way to Afghanistan this afternoon. It is packed inside a care package being sent to my cousin who is stationed there. The package is filled with items that are difficult for her to get over there as well as a few other surprises!

My friend knows that I have been searching for internships in the beauty industry, and recently sent me a job posting for a Marketing Internship at a haircare brand that I hadn't seen! She always sends me internship postings that she thinks I would be interested in, to ensure that I don't miss out on an opportunity.

My roommate reminded me that the application for a credited internship was due, and helped me apply. Without her reminding me and helping me, I may have not gotten the opportunity to intern next semester!

After helping my student through the citizenship process, she was eager to see her family in the refugee camp where she lived after escaping persecution in Burma. With the help of other generous supporters, I was able to purchase her plane ticket and together we traveled to Thailand where she was able to see her four children, eleven grandchildren, three great-grand children and one brother for the first time in 13 years.

I received this coin from my husband, Joe, who is the Principal of John F. Kennedy School in Raritan, NJ, as a part of a school-wide Kindness Project to show students the massive impact and far reach that one small act of kindness can have - the Butterfly Effect. The coin gets passed along in hopes that the person will, "pay it forward", by showing kindness to someone else.

I thought to pass along this coin to my friend Barb Pisciotta. Barb is a person who shows genuine happiness for others in good times and genuine compassion for them in times of need. Her kindness has always impressed me and in trying to think of who to share this coin with, I immediately thought of Barb.

After several attempts to find this coin, I finally did in Rohner Park Fortuna. May it’s journey continue. Will play it forward soon.

A true angel passed this coin to me. The kindness she shows every day is something I admire and respect so very much💕❤️💕

I got a birthday card from my friend Donna. I was so surprised to see two butterfly 🦋 coins with the card. I live in Waggaman not too far away from New Orleans. I held on to my coins for the next time I went on a cruise. And this is why you now have the coin. You went above and beyond to help me so I wanted to pay it forward and at least put a smile on your face. Now it’s your turn to do the same for someone :-)

I was really busy and could not get food so my friend brought me dinner and I really appreciated it or else I probably would not be able to go get dinner that night.

I have passed my coin onto two very fine friends in Nanaimo, BC. They have been and continue to be very warm and inclusive. Most people from British Columbia are nice people but these two take the cake.

We received this coin from our lovely boat friends Tom & Karen from Sandpoint, Idaho who inspired us to cruise the gulf islands for a month at a time, taking us out & showing us the way on our first adventure. We always meet up for good times when our cruising allows, they rock!
Recently we discovered that some amazing friends of ours were facing major challenges with vehicles. They are wonderful artists with big hearts, 3 strapping sons & we love spending time with them. As we knew they couldn’t afford another vehicle, we gifted them the old car that I had been driving. We know with their generous spirits, they will enjoy paying this coin forward. Helen & Ron

This coin was passed along to me by Deb Macejka! I taught Deb's daughter years ago and Deb found me at a Breast Cancer Survivor event. She has paid forward to our community so many times. One of my favorite memories is her organizing an event at the Saratoga race track honoring survivors! I'm happy that Deb chose me to pass along the coin. I wanted to recognize an employee of To Life who works tirelessly behind the scenes. Of course Emily came to mind! I put together a nail polish care kit for Emily and made her a special butterfly card! Thank you Emily for all that you do!

This coin was passed to me by Kendra. She is a supportive member of our our Young Survivor Coalition community! Kendra wrote me a thoughtful note and gave me a beautiful Sunflower. My favorite flower! I passed the coin along to Michele along with four blank handmade Christmas cards. I hope Michele knows how special she is in our Young Survivor Coalition community!

Howdy, Y'all! Mrs. R welcomed me into her home and offered me comfort and advice as we talked about our love of caring for kids! I'm a pediatric ear nose and throat surgeon and that kind of job can be harder than people think. Mrs. R offered me her insight into helping kids and how to teach them and empower them, because that's an important part of being a doctor that takes care of kids!

I'm excited to pass this coin along with my act of kindness and I can't wait to see what adventures unfold for it!

I am sending this coin to my sister-in-law, Sara. She has done so much for her husband (my brother), Tom, who has been ill for nearly two years. Sara has been by his side during all of his good times as well as his bad. I am so thankful that she is in Tom's life. I am also thankful she's a part of my life! You're an amazing woman, Sara!

My friend cleared out her entire weekend schedule to hang out with me because I was going through a rough time! I really appreciated her time and support!

Ready for my adventure.

I just received this coin from one of the most caring individuals I know. Special people go out if their way to help others who at this time in their life cannot. I will seek out someone like her to pass it on.

I received this coin from my friend, Cindy Walsh. In continuing with the story that one small act of kindness can have with the Butterfly Effect, I am passing this coin along in hopes that the person will "pay it forward" by showing kindness to someone else.

I am passing this coin along to my dear friend Phyllis DelMaestro. Phyllis has always been a very kind and generous person... She has a heart of gold! I hope to continue the journey for this butterfly...

received this coin from a best friend, "kindness " could be her middle name! My boss gave me the book, Butterfly Effect, a good read and along the lines of the Butterfly Coin. Columbus, OH

I work at a retail store, and my team had a rough day of sales on Friday. Business and traffic was low, so in an effort to increase team morale, I cooked breakfast for my coworkers. Before work, I cooked a large batch of fresh pancakes and made fresh coffee. To accompany the pancakes, I bought maple syrup and an assortment of fresh berries. It made the whole team very happy and excited to start the day!

I was given this coin after my mother's suicide, it is our belief loved ones visit from heaven in butterflies. Kindness followed her passing including this act of a simple coin. I plan to keep it until someone is in a big need for hope and kindness just as I was.

I received this coin from my late mother as a Christmas gift. She ordered it online to promote kindness. She was an amazing woman that always thought of everyone else first. She is no longer with us but she is watching it’s worldwide travels. I then gave to Sean and Kathleen in Speyside, Tobago for their amazing hospitality and SCUBA diving operation and all the altruistic things they are doing for the dogs of Tobago.

Given to Kristy Lamb for being a part of the Rescue Pit leadership team where she does a remarkable job recruiting, engaging, and organizing volunteers to ensure we can carry out our mission!

My babysitter sent me this coin from John F. Kennedy School in Raritan, NJ as part of a school wide project to promote kindness. I currently live in Nashville, TN. Ms. Jaclyn sent me an awesome cookbook because she knows I love to bake. It was always something we would do together. I love Ms. Jaclyn very much. I miss her a lot too! I am going to give it to one of my best friends. She is a very smart, responsible and kind person. I am going to give her a bouquet of cake-pops. I can't wait to see where this coin travels!

I received this surprise butterfly coin in the mail this past Saturday from my good friend Barb Pisciotta. The Butterfly Effect is the story of one small act of kindness and the impact it can have. I am passing this coin along in the hopes that the person receiving it will “pay it forward” by showing kindness to someone else.

I chose to pass this coin along to my sweet friend Sister Barbara O’Kane. I met her at work and after several years she had a “calling” by God and chose to leave the corporate world and become a Religious Teachers Filippini sister. She is such a special person and she has definitely found the right path in life. She just exudes joy when you are with her. I’m so happy to call her my friend and so happy she is a part of my life.

I am giving this coin to my "second dad" (Joe) in Maryville, Missouri. He was my athletic trainer in college at Northwest Missouri State University but has become more like family. We love his kiddos and one of his daughters (Austyn Jo) is my god-daughter. I am giving Joe this coin in memory of my triplet sister (Hillary) who passed away in a car accident when we (myself and my sister Candace) were 5 years old. I am hoping Joe passes this coin onto someone special in his life that has lost a loved one in memory of his sister who passed away from cancer a couple years ago. I love you Joe!!

Thank you to my Mother Brenda for sharing this coin with me so I may share the love it brings to others....

Monarch butterflies have always held a special place in my heart. Growing up my grandmother would raise them from their caterpillar state, and once they hatched from their cocoons she would let me gently hold them in the palm of my hand until their wings would dry so I could watch them soar into the sky to their next adventure! My mother, Brenda, and I have held fond memories of butterflies ever since. As I grew older, the butterflies symbolism grew even stronger for me. The idea of transformation and growth is something I strive to do on a daily basis. Understanding challenges are placed upon us for reasons that we may never fully understand, we fight unknowing for the future. The same that a butterfly fights through transformation for its wings to fly.

I've decided to share this butterfly with my co-worker and friend Kristen! During the few years I've known her, Kristen has proven that kindness and friendship does exist! It's been awhile since I've meant someone who is as positive and selfless as she. Words can not express how thankful I am to have met her and to have her in my life. I wish everything in the world for her. She is truly the definition of unconditional love and friendship.

I love you Kristen... and your acts of kindness will never go unnoticed.

Your wings are growing beautifully... get ready for flight!

I would like to pass my coin to Jake Vollstedt. He is an amazing young man and is a "light" for all of those around him. His energy is contagious and is an extremely hard worker. I appreciate his support in and away from the workplace. I am passing the coin on in remembrance of my sister Kelly.

I helped my friend when he was having trouble

I backed my teacher up when my classmate said she was being mean

My friend, Carrie, gave me this coin and I am passing it on to two of my dear sisters-in-law who came out from Kentucky to help care for my ailing mother until she passed away. They also were a tremendous help clearing away a lifetime accumulation of “stuff” from my mom’s home in preparation for its sale.

I received this coin from AK on her retirement from 20 years of active duty in the military. I presented this coin to a patient of mine when I had to say goodbye to her as her employer changed her health insurance. I have helped take care of "T" for 10 years, through a number of serious health issues. "T" is one of the strongest people I have known, and only got stronger in the face of adversity. Even at the peak of her health issues, she greeted me with a warm smile and our visits left me with a smile of my own. I learned from her through how she coped with her illnesses and managed her job and family, including twins the same age as my twins. She has enriched my life as a person and as a doctor and I will always remember her. I'm sad I can't take care of her anymore!
