Coin Stories

I was given this coin by Heather Petersen, whose generosity and love for helping and inspiring others is just the tip of the 'coin' for this amazing woman. Fly on!

In Austin, texas :)

Made our day!!!! Thank you so much for your generosity, kindness and hearts of gold:) If I had a gold butterfly coin you would be the recipient...I do have this brass one with much gratitude and thanks for everything that you have done and continue to do! Surprise food in a veterinary clinic is one of best things ever. We give you a heartfelt (and tummyfelt) Thank you. Also the efforts of reaching out, funding, and helping to find a solution for the stray animals of our Community. You are appreciated very very much! Continue to do good and fly on my friends!

This coin is going in a "Dirty Santa" Christmas gift for a great group of friends. I hope whomever receives it does something awesome with it. Fly on.....

Started Here.

Thank you for your loyalty and friendship. You inspire me! Do good and fly on, my friend!

I thought this was a wonderful way to tell someone what a great job they are doing staying strong and doing what is right. It's hard sometimes when the world is against you but I know you got this. Love Baker

Received this coin at the post office in Huron, oh! Someone so generously paid for a stamp that was going to France. My girls and I will be paying it forward to someone else soon.

Bought some stamps for the gentleman in line behind me at the post office. Take flight, little coin, and do some good in the world.

I am giving this coin to someone in my department at work in recognition of a year of kindnesses. I hope each person in my department will remember to give their coin away next time they do something for someone else.

Just received my first coin. I can't wait to give it to someone.

My Mom passed last year. So many wonderful thoughts and memories of her! One of the most prevalent was her love of Butterflies! I purchased this coin to give to a family member for Christmas 2018. Mom would have loved everything about this! (Muskegon, MI)

I just met Bruce and Selkirk on Amtrak as we go rolling through the snowy fields of North Dakota in The sunshine. Iโ€™m grateful to be joining them in this kindness revolution because our world could change in beautiful ways if we treat each other compassionately. Letโ€™s celebrate that we come from all backgrounds and walks of life, and at the fundamental level we are all the same, in this together. Peace to all beings.

On Amtrak spreading the word of love, kindness and compassion. This coin is going to my newest friend Rebecca! Fly on and do good :)

Lt. Brian Lowe was a Paratrooper in the US Army and served during Operation Desert Storm. He earned his Masters Degree from Northwestern University. Brian started his career in law enforcement in McArthur, Ohio. He soon moved to the Lancaster Police Department where he was a police officer for many years. He enjoyed teaching classes at Hocking College and Ohio University - Lancaster. Brian also had his pilots license and loved to fly.
Brian, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 29, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, 2 young children, mother, father, and brother.
Brian was an incredible interrogator, meticulous detective, original member of our multidisciplinary team, and all around force for good. He always went above and beyond, and his leadership and compassion are sorely missed.
46 coins are dedicated to his memory, to honor and continue his good works.

This coin made it into Rio's bag on the send off to her new job...Rio please let us know its course and don't drop it in the snow:)

Congratulations on winning the Watford City Real Estate Group 15 days of giving, day five prize for a hundred dollar gift certificate at Watford City Veterinary Center. Enjoy the gift, do good & fly on!

When I was in Sandpoint, I dropped a $100 bill on theSandpoint, ID, USA floor at the Chevron gas station. After I had left, I looked in my pockets and realized I was missing $100 so I raced back to the gas station and Richard the cashier had told me that some kid had turned it in. I asked Richard to track down that kid for me so I could thank him for turning in my money, and I told my boss at Talus Rock Retreat about what had just happened and how we should put the kid in the newspaper for his good deed. My boss handed me a Butterfly Coin and told me to pass it on...sadly Richard the cashier never saw the kid again and I could not give the kid the Butterfly Coin! So now I have this Butterfly Coin and Im just waiting for the right person to pass it off to.

Rodney and Libby ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโค๏ธ

Wow!!! What an amazing evening. This will definitely be a first on Butterfly Coins. This is my story. As I stated earlier I was supposed to be going with my dear friend of 19yrs Rodney shopping (or so I thought) while at his house waiting to leave, a know on the door. Rodney opens the door greets a man who quickly entered followed by a cameraman lights and cameras on. He walks to me as I stood to introduce myself, when he proceeds to tell me his name Dave Waston. Host and TV personality of the show The Journey. Itโ€™s an outdoor sporting show which highlights the selfless lives others have given. He proceeds to tell me I had been nominated and selected as one of his guests, for an all expenses paid hunting adventure in Oklahoma. I realize this evening I was the very person who โ€œreceived โ€œ a butterfly coin, so to speak. By my dear friends Rodney and Libby in nominating myself to be selected. It was then I knew that the very coin I was carrying has in a way selected ME to be the recipient of an incredible random act of kindness. I therefore ceremonially gifted my first coin to Rodney and Libby. Two very deserving wonderful people. Although they have already helped me. I know the coin they now carry will find its was onto someone else very soon. So this was In affect a reversal act of kindness. So cool ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Watch for me soon on the outdoor channel show The Journey for the rest of my story

Dennis planned on using this coin tonight when he was out Christmas shopping... what he didnโ€™t know was he was getting surprised with a hunting trip instead of going shopping. He is truly a one of a kind man with a heart of gold. So instead of giving the coin to someone who he thought needed help he did the reverse and gave it to us, the ones that gave him a hunting trip. Iโ€™m excited to see the journey of this coin and whoโ€™s lives it touches!

Just received my 10 coins today. This one Iโ€™m taking with me while Christmas shopping. I pray I can have an opportunity to help someone today and pass it on. D ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Gave the coin and a twenty dollar bill to this dude who needed it outside Slicks. He promised to pay it forward in his own time and way.

This sort of thing is normally outside of my comfort zone. But with the coin in my pocket, I was actively looking for an opportunity to help someone โ€“ and damn if it didn't feel great.

On business trip to NYC... gave my barista a rather large cash tip along with the coin. She couldn't stop smiling. :)

Someone paid for my lunch in the Wendy's drive-thru in Lakeway, TX, when I was visited my family there. Taking coin back to SF and will figure out what this is all about. Thanks!

While our project is in its infancy, I thought I'd post this Example Coin with some fake story notes so you can see how the animated map works. Here's my first story note.

Wow...the butterfly is emerging from its cocoon....a destiny of global giving. A big decision indeed on what to be the first path of a beautiful fledging butterfly...trusting it to find its way.
