Coin Stories

Starting with my 8-yr old son, Miles! He received this kindness coin in Scouts. We’re keeping a mind of service and eager to pass it along!

I purchased this coin to give to JoLee Holley who I mentored while she was in Transitions of Dyer County. I pray she will continue to work hard and stay close to God.
Transitions is a ministry of Jesus Christ organized for the purpose of transforming the lives of women with life controlling issues. The mission of Transitions is to nurture and disciple women who desire a new beginning through the life changing power of Jesus Christ. Women (eighteen and older) with life controlling issues (such as, alcohol and drug addictions, abuse, anger, depression, etc.) who desire a life change can find hope.
As a butterfly.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

My roommate reminded me that the application for a credited internship was due, and helped me apply. Without her reminding me and helping me, I may have not gotten the opportunity to intern next semester!

My friend knows that I have been searching for internships in the beauty industry, and recently sent me a job posting for a Marketing Internship at a haircare brand that I hadn't seen! She always sends me internship postings that she thinks I would be interested in, to ensure that I don't miss out on an opportunity.

This coin was given to me by my niece in October 2019.
She is a great and kind person and I was so thrilled to get this. Butterflies were my mothers favorite thing in the world (along with birds) and my niece Stephanie knew I would love the coin.

I am passing this along to my dear friend Nancy who has had tremendously difficult few years with the death of her father and son. She is kind and giving and a wonderful friend, I am giving this to her for her birthday and she does not need to pass it on until she finds the perfect person who could use a butterfly coin to bring a bit of cheer.

This coin is beginning its journey today in New Jersey on November 6, 2019 and will be on its way to Afghanistan this afternoon. It is packed inside a care package being sent to my cousin who is stationed there. The package is filled with items that are difficult for her to get over there as well as a few other surprises!

This coin was given to my 9 year old daughter from her Nana because she takes such good care of her 91 year old grandma that lives with us. ❤

John F. Kennedy School Kindness Project:
As part of a school-wide kindness initiative at the John F. Kennedy School in Raritan, NJ, a staff member purchased this butterfly coin to show students the far reach and massive impact that one small act of kindness can have---the Butterfly Effect. This coin made its way to you and we hope that you will "pay it forward" in your own way by showing kindness to someone else and passing the coin along to them. It would mean the world to us and our students if you would use the unique tracking number found on the back of this coin and add your story to its journey, so that we can share the coin, and its kindness journey with our students. Thank you in advance for your kindness.
--The Staff Members of John F. Kennedy School

I met Mr. Antoine, Dean of Students at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School in Newark, New Jersey at a Saturday morning EdCamp (EdCamp Newark). My principal colleague and I were getting ready to make a presentation on Mindfulness in Schools and were having some difficulty getting the technology to work moments before we were scheduled to begin.

Mr. Antoine immediately went into action to try to help us and we were able to get started. Throughout the presentation you could see and feel Mr. Antoine's dedication to the students and families of his school. His commitment, care and tremendously positive energy were genuine, heartfelt and readily apparent.

I could not think of a better person to give a Butterfly Coin to, as Mr. Antoine embodies kindness, dedication and service to others.
Sincere thanks to you, Mr. Antoine for all you do for the students and families of Great Oaks Charter Schools!

This butterfly coin is starting at John F. Kennedy School in Raritan, NJ as part of a school wide kindness project. I am sending this coin to my friend Emma Kate. Although she is only a fifth grader, she is an awesome little girl who I know will spread the kindness forward. In all the time, I spent with Emma Kate over the years, one of my favorite things to do with her is bake. I have sent Emma Kate a cook book in hopes she will share her delicious treats and pay it forward. I have no doubt Emma Kate will find something amazing to do with this coin. My students cant wait to watch the adventures this coin takes.

I received this coin through my Boy Scouts pack meeting. I have been holding on to it as I wanted to find just the right person to share it with as it is so special. I love the idea of passing kindness to other people. I recently visited an assisted living facility where I met some very nice older people. One of the people I met was a gentleman that served in the army and 3 wars. I would like to know more about his life and spend some time with him. I think I will share my butterfly coin with him and see if we can get to know each other more. I enjoyed talking with him and learning about his time in the army. Maybe he has some friends that would also enjoy the butterfly coin and sharing kindness with others.

I was having trouble completing my excel homework, and my friends from class joined me in the computer lab to help me finish the assignment!

My friend printed my homework for me and brought it to class because I wasn't able to print it on time. We had to hand the homework in today, and I was able to turn it in on time!

I gave this coin to our mail carrier, affectionately known as “Mike the Mailman” Gaudio. You are a lucky person if you are on Mike’s route. His everyday acts of kindness- his smile, laughter, interest in your and your family’s life, makes seeing him a highlight of any day. My kids will stop what they are doing just to run out and say hello to Mike. When it’s raining, he puts the mail in a bag and delivers it to the door. When we had ants in the mailbox this past summer, he put the mail at our door, to avoid getting ants on the mail and then bringing them into the house. Mike’s warmth, genuineness, sense of humor, and thoughtfulness make him a treasure to the neighborhood. We talked about starting a “Blue Mike Fan Club” but he already has one and we are grateful for him and to him.

I received this coin from my cousin (Bubbles) for my birthday. I'm carrying it along until the right kindness lands in my path to pass it on. Butterfly kisses to Bubbles and Sam.

I spilled coffee on my laptop, and my mom brought me her laptop from home, so I can work on my homework. My mom drove 30 minutes there and back to drop off the laptop

I bought this coin to teach my 4th grade students the power of kindness and how a simple act of kindness can create a ripple effect. Please pay it forward so my students can witness the power of the butterfly effect.

Thanks Linda! We'll find a nice home for the beautiful butterfly. Thanks for all of your friendship. - Paria and James

Im giving the coin to my big bro. He showed me what a true friend is and he came when I needed him the most. He is thoughtful and really funny. I had a hard time at first with finding someone who deserves this token of gratitude... Then I met Trey and he exceeded my expectations for how genuine a person can be. Thank you for being a true friend and being there for me when I need you. I hope I can to be as good to you as you're to me.
You're little.

This coin is flying to my good friend, Sallie. Sallie is one of the kindest people I know. She has been a good friend ever since we met on the tennis courts in the 1980's. If I ever had an emergency, I know Sallie would be there for me. She is my personal "Uber Driver." We share our thoughts just like sisters, but with no sibling rivalry. We never seem to run out of topics of conversation. We walk at least once weekly and sometimes more. She has made my retirement years truly "golden". I meant to give her this coin on her birthday October 10, but she knows how I am with "senior moments". Sallie, enjoy your butterfly coin and then let it fly either here in Redding to a worthy person or on your next trip. As my dad used to say, "You're a Wonder."

Happy Birthday to my dear friend, Stephanie. This coin is flying to her for all the kindness she has shown me throughout the years. We met in 1979 when she worked with my husband. We became good friends and she has been there with me through all the ups and downs of life. She also is a retired high school counselor and has helped many teenagers throughout her career. Stephanie, I hope you find someone you would like to pass this butterfly coin of kindness to either here in town or on a trip. Thanks for being wonderful YOU!!!!!!!

Very good friend gave me the coin to brighten my day. Was having a family problem and her thoughtfulness meant so much.

This coin is being given to Mr. Tom Tilford on 11/3/19, as he is very kindly driving me from Grand Ledge, MI to Grand Rapids MI airport so I can join my husband in Florida for the winter. Thanks, Tom, this is very special!!! Hopefully, you enjoy passing this coin which spreads kindness on to another so the monarch can continue its flight. Again, thank you. Sally

Grief comes in many forms and you can even grieve someone you have never met. I never got to meet the father of the man that I love for reasons only he knows. I wanted to write my thoughts and hope in some way my messages get to him so he knows how much I appreciate his teachings. He raised an amazing man who has lost his way and does not believe in himself. I have loved this man for many years and we often joked it was more like lifetimes. We have known each other for decades but our love is not meant to be….at least in this lifetime. I come to this Barrancas cemetary to pay my respects for closure and to ask you to watch over BWR as he tries to navigate this world without you. I have tried to be there for him, but he simply does not want me in his life. He will forever be branded on me and in my heart. Your son brought me back to life at a time when I had lost all feeling and hope of ever loving another man. For that, I will always be thankful and wish I could do the same for him. I spent several years loving him from a distance and wished I was enough. I have decided to let him go, not because I do not love him, but because I love him enough to let him be happy without my interference. I miss him daily, but know he is better off with me faded into a memory. He misses you so much and I know he is questioning a lot of decisions left for him. Please watch over him and guide him back to living his best life. I will end this with something I wrote for him a few years ago so he knew how much he meant to me. Sadly, I never got to meet you, but want you to know how much I adore and love your son. One day, I hope he can see how absolutely wonderful he really is.
Thank you for your service. May you rest in peace, we have the watch.

"This Man"
Who is this man who has stolen my heart?
25 years and we have yet to part.
We started as friends and maintained that for years,
A trip to the North and the line disappears.
An undeniable connection and mutual respect,
Fate had no doubt we would one day connect.
This man has seen pain and he tries not to dwell,
He uses his humor as part of his shell.
He thinks he can hide it, but I know him too well.
This man is so brave; he’s dedicated to serve,
He’s never been given the praise he deserves.
This man knows the risk when he leaves home each day,
But he straps on his gear and still goes 10-8.
This man is my knight, without the white steed
His badge is his armor and his love’s all I need.
This man’s not alone; it’s him plus two,
The boy is his clone and she’s Punky Boo.
He’s protective of them, and fears they’ll be torn
But, I already love them as if they’re my own.
This man has eyes so blue and so bright,
I’ve often joked, they’re my kryptonite.
Our love is still new, there’s much left to give.
Forever by his side is where I will live.

This coin will go to the most generous person I know... Eileen Schneider, she has stuck with me through the horror of several strokes, has been by my side in god knows so many hospitals and never complains! She is also a "Mimi" to some 7 grandchildren and they are always on the top of her mind and warm smiles and hugs for each of them. Her two sons are her pride and joy, she will boast about each of them whenever given a chance... just ask! To everybody she is compassionate and her smile radiates caring and warmth, but don't cross her and if you do she will expect an apology with a follow up of what you did wrong LOL cant help but love this woman.

Hello! My name is Maurice, I received the butterfly coin a couple of months ago from Cynde. Cynde is an awesome friend! I am honored to be a part of the club. I choose Tenisha as the next recipient, she is a cashier on our front end :)

We are soooo excited to read your message!!!
Love from Mr. Campbell & Mrs. Sandborg's Class

This butterfly coin has already logged some miles! I received it from my nephew Ben, his wife Maria, and their two children, Adam and Corina. I live in Wisconsin but was visiting my two sisters in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, such a beautiful area! It was so wonderful to see my nephew and his family again during that visit, and I really appreciated the time they took to drive several hours to spend time with me since I had not seen them for several years. They are all so positive and giving! After my visit I drove back to my home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, with one sister. I will keep the coin with me as a reminder of their love, and one day I will be happy to pass it off to someone else who has shown me a memorable act of kindness!

Gifted to my sister-in-law for all the good and kindness she always gives freely to us. Having lunch with her today.

Thanks for helping organize my van, it was really nice to meet you! Can’t wait to hangout again when I get back

To a very nice lady named Malissa. I know both of our mothers liked butterflies. Please keep this as a reminder in their honor. Feel free to pass this coin on to another special person. Cindy

To my Husband, Mike: You are my everything and more. I love you forever. Cindy.

This coin was purchased in 2019 and given to Ethan Corrales who is 12 years old at the time. He's an amazing young man who I am encouraging to be the difference he wants to be in the world, he will pass this coin as a thank you to someone who showed kindness to another.

This coin was purchased in 2019 and given to my daughter Eva who is 6 yrs old at the time. I encourage Eva to always be kind, to do good deeds when she can, and to thank those who give kindness as well. She will give this coin as a thank you to someone of her choosing. We live in Raritan, NJ.

Received from Kim at the Toy Room with a sparkly brontosaurus. It made me soooooo happy. I cannot wait to pass the kindness on!

A classroom of fifth grade students decided to bring in items to donate to a local food pantry.

I received my coin from my principals at Eisenhower Intermediate School in Bridgewater, New Jersey. They provided the coins to initiate Acts of Kindness in our school. I am a 6th-grade language arts teacher and a mom of a 2nd-grade teacher, who teaches in Lynn, Massachusettes. My students were asked to show their kindness by donating a gently used book that they enjoyed when they were a bit younger. We collected many Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones books along with others that promote early reading. Hopefully, the children receiving these books will be encouraged to read more knowing these books came from their teacher's mom's students. Happy Reading!!

What the Caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning 🦋

A man who asked me for a couple grocery store items, including a turkey sandwich received this coin along with it. I am grateful I was able to help and tell him he will be in my prayers.

This coin is given to two amazing people. Mr. & Mrs. Harris of Tallassee, AL 36078. We were in search for our forever home and they have the perfect place. They opened their home to us as strangers to review all options to make it ours. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it work. We still felt like they were family and their hearts are full of kindness. We pass this coin on to show our appreciate them for their kindness.

I take care of my neighbour since she lost her homemate. She lives alone, without any relatives or friends near by. Every saturday and sometimes also between the week, when I have the feeling she needs a talk I invite her for a cup of coffee. Now she needs to have surgery and I care for her and her home. This is only one of the things I spend time with people in need.
Thanks to Anne-in-uk. The coin will go back to USA again. God bless good friends.

Aneela and Esme examined the coin. They are 5 and 3, they love butterfly's and they love coins. They are thinking of a friend to share this coin with... to be continued.

Gifted to my long time friend for being so kind and giving to me. Thanks for all you do.

Gifted this coin to my sister in law and best friend for all the good and kindness she has freely given to me.

HI! Today our class is starting with our first butterfly coin project!!!! We hope our coin will pass on to other people around the world and that we can track the coin as it moves!!!!

My dad gave this coin to me in order to encourage the spread of kind acts, and witness their results. Today, my dad left work early to go for a walk at a state park with me. Living in New York, my dad knows that I don't get to enjoy nature as often, and wanted to make sure I got to experience the fall weather.

This coin is starting it's journey in honour of a dear friends 50th birthday. May it travel near and far with love and joy to all who receive it!

I bought this coin to teach my 4th grade students the power of kindness and how a simple act of kindness can create a ripple effect. Please pay it forward so my students can witness the power of the butterfly effect.
